Ways in which the business card can be made impactful are countless. Duplexed cards offer yet another unique way to create that long lasting positive first impression. Duplex cards use a technique whereby additional thickness is achieved by pasting together two sheets of paper. This method allows heavy letterpress and artwork on both the sides of card with single and multiple colors at the front and back.

Interesting feature called “Sandwich” effect can also be achieved by having single on both sides with a different pop of color in between. The sleek high end feature gets people talking about you and your business card for a long, long time.

A clean design of slab serif type in grey ink and debossed logo. Deboss is letterpress printing but with no ink and creates a superbly tactile finish. The card is white front and grey back, sandwiched together to create a striking effect that works with the design.

The cards were designed by David and supplied to us as a PDF and we printed the cards on our 1969 Heidelberg press.

Studio On Fire custom duplexed the card from two colors. The black side is Skin Black 141lb Cover. That is pasted to Skin White 141lb Cover for a total thickness of 280lb Cover.

Production went something like this… The black stock is hot foil stamped in a clear gloss foil and a mirror finish metallic silver. The white stock is letterpress printed in metallic silver ink. Then the black and white sheets are pasted together in register into a heavy duplex sheet. Those sheets are covered with a protective mask on both sides. The masked sheets are laser cut into the custom shaped business cards and the protective mask is removed.
