Etikettarkiv: Black

First impressions play a crucial role in professional interactions. Black business cards will always be a crowd favorite as they symbolize class, elegance and style. It immediately creates an aura of power, intelligence and stability. For easy readability white text looks most appropriate on black business cards.

Elements of fun can be added through gold and silver foiling and embossing options both in gloss as well as matte textures. Black suede business cards are huge rage as well. Whether it’s jet black or charcoal black, the color makes your business card bold, distinct and timeless.

Hinching

Very much inspired by Bright Corner’s business cards, instead of a fixed title like Graphic Designer, I opted for short description about the range of design projects I can do. It’s rather broad if you know what I mean. Careful not to put an overload of information, the words on the business card has gone through several revisions.

No logo? I personally feel that being a ’soon-to-be’ design graduate, there’s no need to associate myself with any form of personal logo or trademark. Reason being that I’d prefer to show potential employers that I’m excited to become part of their studio instead of me looking like a one-man-show.

What makes a good business card? For me, it has to best reflect me which I think the present card does a good job. Less on the visuals but more on the text. There’s ample space on the front for jotting down notes.Typeface used: Relato Serif by Emtype.net which you’ll be seeing used extensively in my portfolio.

Pay the bills? Bwuahaha. I can’t believe I put this in but I’m unashamed. Since I’m going to make design a way of earning a living, it’s just make sense that whatever I will be doing should pay for my bills especially just starting out in the design industry.

Touchpoint

Studio On Fire custom duplexed the card from two colors. The black side is Skin Black 141lb Cover. That is pasted to Skin White 141lb Cover for a total thickness of 280lb Cover.

Production went something like this… The black stock is hot foil stamped in a clear gloss foil and a mirror finish metallic silver. The white stock is letterpress printed in metallic silver ink. Then the black and white sheets are pasted together in register into a heavy duplex sheet. Those sheets are covered with a protective mask on both sides. The masked sheets are laser cut into the custom shaped business cards and the protective mask is removed.

Sassen Design

This business card design was designed by Sassen Design, the business card was created using a rubber stamp, a very creative and successful approach to business card design.
